About IFWF2

The CPWF research community's vision is to help develop more prosperous and resilient agricultural societies by improving access to water, and the ways in which it is managed and used. The niche and comparative advance of the CPWF lies in its production of innovative science for development impact, by targeting the complex 'real world' intersection between human poverty, water resources and food production. It does this through utilising research outputs of research institutes and forging new working links with the broader development community.
CPWF research helps people in agriculture to deal with the effects of climate change and increasing water scarcity. Our goal is to help produce more food with less water in six river basins around the world-the Nile, Volta, Limpopo, Mekong, Andes and the Ganges basins-in order to leave more water for other users and the environment.
IFWF2 was held at an exciting time as the CPWF picked up pace and refined its research portfolio to meet the Program's ultimate goal. The CPWF's 1st International Forum on Water and Food was hosted in Vientiane, Laos, in 2006, and the next Forum is now being planned for 2010.
The CPWF is a multi-institutional research initiative, a network comprising of 18 core partners and over 200 project-level partner bodies worldwide.
